Waqar Haider Awan - Member Advisory Board

Waqar Haider Awan is an accomplished legal and human resource expert with more than twenty years of experience advancing rule of law, governance, migration management and human rights at national and international levels. His portfolio spans strategic collaboration with leading multilateral and bilateral institutions, including UNODC, UNDP, UN Women, IOM, ICMPD, GIZ, ILO, EU and USAID, where he has led complex programs addressing trafficking in persons, smuggling of migrants, returnee reintegration and institutional reform.

He is recognized for his rights based, gender sensitive and survivor centered approaches, having designed and delivered capacity building programs for judicial officers, law enforcement agencies, prosecution departments, social welfare institutions and civil society organizations. His contributions include the development of SOPs, training curricula and policy frameworks that strengthen institutional responses while aligning with international human rights standards and national legislation.

Academically, Waqar holds an LL.M. in Law, along with diplomas in Labor Laws and Human Resource Management, complementing his lifelong memberships with the Human Resource Development Network (HRDN), Punjab Bar Council, Lahore High Court Bar Association and Lahore Bar Association.

With proven ability to bridge policy and practice, he brings a blend of legal insight, strategic leadership and programmatic expertise, ensuring sustainable, ethical and inclusive solutions in every engagement.
