He is presently member Board of Directors of Global Climate Impact Studies Centre, Ministry of Climate Change, is a seasoned professional in the field on water resources management and disaster management, remained Chief Engineering Adviser & Chairman Federal Flood Commission, Ministry of Water Resources, Government of Pakistan from 2017 to October 2024 besides President Pakistan National Committee on Irrigation & Drainage, President Pakistan National Committee on Large Dams and Chief of Research, Development & Policy Implementation Cell of Ministry of Water Resources.

He also held important appointment of Chairman IRSA and Member (Federal) IRSA besides Member (Planning), Member (DRR) and official spokesperson of NDMA. He remained member of over a dozen national and international bodies relating to disaster management, climate change etc. A Civil Engineer with an overall 35 years of professional experience in the field of water resources management, flood control planning & management, Disaster Risk Reduction, flood forecasting & warning systems, disaster risk insurance.

He is the architect of Pakistan’s first ever National Disaster Management Plan, National Water Policy, National DRR Policy, Dams & Barrges Regulatory Framework for Pakistan, besides very active input in the National Adaptation Plan and National Chair of the Adaptation Committee on NDCs formulation. He is the recipient of JICA International Presidential Award of Recognition in the field of disaster management, UNESCO-IHE Award of Recognition in the context of excellent work on Strategic Studies on Seawater intrusion and Environmental Flows in the Indus River Basin besides Appreciation Certificates from the University of New Hampshire, USA, and from Commander American Army Central Command, Washington DC for promoting cooperation among Pakistan and USA in the field of disaster management.
